About Wye Valley Brewery

Wye Valley Brewery is a family-run business dedicated to brewing the best cask-conditioned beer possible and championing pubs as important parts of local communities. We use only the finest quality raw materials – sourced locally wherever possible – and are proud to be recognised as the leading cask ale brewery in the county.

Vernon and Peter AmorFounded in 1985 by ex-Guinness brewer Peter Amor, we began brewing in Canon Pyon, Herefordshire, but moved shortly afterwards to the old stable block of The Barrels, an historic 18th century coaching inn in Hereford.

By April 2002 the brewery had outgrown its Hereford home and relocated to its present site in Stoke Lacy. Also in 2002, after completing his brewing training at Young’s Brewery in Wandsworth, Peter’s son Vernon took over as our managing director. Peter is now chairman of Wye Valley Brewery and chairman of SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers.

BarleyBottles, barley and a brand new pub

Wye Valley Brewery has grown every year since it began, and continues to do so. Last year we installed a bottling facility at the brewery, enabling us to bottle our own beers and the beers of other breweries. We also acquired a new pub – The Morgan in Great Malvern – bringing our family of pubs to three, and commissioned a local farmer to grow Maris Otter barley especially for us, as part of our commitment to using local ingredients in our beers.

2010 – our silver jubilee

On 8 March, we celebrate our 25th anniversary. This momentous occasion has caused us to reflect on our journey from tiny micro-brewery to the busy regional brewery we are today.

We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved during the past 25 years, and we’ve seen a lot of changes over that time, but we’re pleased to say that some things will never change. We’ll always strive to provide exceptional personal service to our customers, we remain dedicated to brewing the finest cask and bottled ales using top quality local
ingredients, and we’re firmly committed to the idea that traditional pubs are a vital
part of society.

We’re really excited about our anniversary, and hope you’ll celebrate with us by coming along to one of our events throughout the year. These include a Land Rover day at the brewery in March, our annual Wye Valley Brewery race day at Hereford Racecourse on 29 April, and a celebratory race night on 18 August.

This year we’ll also realise our dream of brewing a true Herefordshire ale, when we introduce our celebratory beer containing Herefordshire hops and our very own Maris Otter barley.

We remain proud of our pubs, our modern production facilities, our beautiful rural location, and the fabulous team of dedicated people who work with us. Most of all, we're grateful to all those of you who visit our pubs and enjoy our ales – we really appreciate your support over the past 25 years. Cheers!
